Misrepresentation of Telemarketer
On June 14th the Huntington Beach Police Officers'
Association (HBPOA) became aware of a telephone
solicitation group that misrepresented themselves during
a telephone solicitation campaign.
The group, California Organization of Police and
Sheriffs (COPS) is a labor union based out of Ontario,
CA. The COPS representative told the Huntington Beach
citizen that COPS represented the HBPOA and they were
authorized by the Orange County Police Commission to
solicit funds. The HBPOA is NOT AFFILIATED with
the organization COPS. We are also not aware of any
Orange County Police Commission that authorizes
telemarketers.
The HBPOA will be filing a complaint with California
Attorney Generals Office. If you were a victim of this
misrepresentation we urge you to also file a complaint.

The HBPOA does NOT conduct telephone solicitation.
Our Foundation conducts an annual fundraiser by mail to
avoid any possible misrepresentation by telemarketers.
For additional details please see
www.hbpoa.org.
According to the California Attorney Generals website
COPS reported its 2005 income to be in excess of Seven
Million dollars. The HBPOA is not affiliated with
COPS.
