Board of Director's -- MAY - Special Regular Meeting




CALL TO ORDER
: Monday, May 3, 2004 - President R. Reinhart convened the meeting to order at 18:10 hours.
ROLL CALL: R. Reinhart, President; J.K. Muller, Vice-President; J. Huss, Secretary; D. Hashin, Treasurer (IOD); A. Preece, Sergeant-at-Arms/ Director; C. Bales, Director; E.N. Evenson, Director; J. Allard, Director (ABS); J. Nelson, Director.
OTHER MEMBERS PRESENT: None.
GUESTS: None.


OLD BUSINESS
RANGE LAWSUIT
: R. Reinhart updated the Board of Directors on the current status of the lawsuit. Discussion held.


NEW BUSINESS
PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS UNIT
: R. Reinhart said that there was a scheduled meeting with a representative from LAPD, Internal Affairs Division who was going to discuss their alternative complaint program is titled "Alternative Complaint Resolution," which is an agreed to mediation program. J. Huss and C. Bales will attend the meeting for future input.
CALIFORNIA PEACE OFFICER MEMORIAL CEREMONY: R. Reinhart said that several members from the Department would be attending the ceremony in Sacramento this year. These include, but not limited to: R. Wright, E.N. Evenson, J.K. Muller, R. Reinhart, M. Metoyer, G. Dove, J. Perez, and a four member Honor Guard Detail. (J. Topartzer, W. Wilson, K. Smith, J. Melschau)


COMMITTEES
NEGOTIATIONS COMMITTEE
: R. Reinhart said that on Friday, April 30, 2004 he had received a telephone call from Bill Workman saying that the POA and City needed to work out the arrangements for an "open enrollment" in the CalPERS Health Care Plan. Shortly after this Bill Workman recalled saying that CalPERS had complicated the issue.

R. Reinhart said that it was mainly a "language issue" and a conference call was held today with City representatives, Steve Silver and R. Reinhart. R. Reinhart feels that this matter will be worked out within the next few days and he will arrange a meeting with CalPERS to do whatever he could with a meeting in Sacramento.

Ø May 9-15 - National Police Week, Washington, DC


ADJOURNMENT: This meeting was adjourned at 19.30 hours to reconvene at 15:30 hours on Wednesday, May 12, 2004.
