Board of Director's -- SEPTEMBER -- Regular Meeting

 

CALL TO ORDER: Wednesday, September 10, 2003 – President R. Reinhart convened the meeting to order at 15:50 hours.

ROLL CALL: R. Reinhart, President; J.K. Muller, Vice-President; J. Huss, Secretary (VAC); D. Hashin, Treasurer; A. Preece, Sergeant-at-Arms/ Director; C. Bales, Director; E.N. Evenson, Director; J. Allard, Director; J. Nelson, Director.

OTHER MEMBERS PRESENT: None.

GUESTS: None.

MINUTES: Minutes for Regular Meeting August 13, 2003 accepted on motion by J.K. Muller and E.N. Evenson, with all concurring.

TREASURER REPORT: D. Hashin presented the Treasurer’s Report, which was accepted.

 

OLD BUSINESS

PORAC CONFERENCE: The 51st Annual Conference will be held in Indian Wells, California, on November 20-23, 2003. R. Reinhart will handle the arrangements for those POA Directors planning on attending. Again as a PORAC Director, R. Reinhart; and as PORAC Chapter President, D. Hashin have their expenses covered by PORAC. POA Directors attending: C. Bales, J. Huss, J. Allard and E.N. Evenson.

LABOR CLASS: "Power, Politics and Confrontation" will be held in Las Vegas, on September 18-19, 2003. Directors attending will have tuition, transportation, lodging, and per diem provided. Those attending are: R. Reinhart, D. Hashin, E.N. Evenson, J. Huss and J. Allard. www.policeandfirelabor.com

 

NEW BUSINESS

ELECTIONS: The results are in for the following newly elected and/or re-elected directors:

Jim Allard - 60
Jeff Huss - 63
Jeff Nelson - 62
Art Preece - 64

Four (4) ballots were disqualified for failure to follow the instructions. Two write-in candidates did not receive a significant number of votes. Total number of ballots cast was seventy-one (71). Congratulations to those reelected and newly elected Directors.

R. Reinhart expressed his thanks and appreciation on behalf of the POA to the only outgoing Director, Steve Ekstedt for his volunteer service, assistance and dedication to the POA over the past few years. He also wished him well in his new position as "retiree."

EXECUTIVE BOARD: A motion by C. Bales and J.K. Muller to have R. Reinhart continue as the President, with all concurring.

A motion by R. Reinhart and J. Nelson to continue the rest of the Executive Board of Directors as it currently is for another year, with all concurring.

COMMITTEES

NEGOTIATIONS COMMITTEE: R. Reinhart briefed the whole Board of Directors as to the status of the recent meetings.

RETIREMENT COMMITTEE: E.N. Evenson said he had nothing to report. The Committee had not had any recent meetings, but encouraged everyone to attend the event.
