Regular Meeting
CALL TO ORDER: Wednesday, May 15, 2002 - President R. Reinhart
convened the meeting to order at 18:00 hours.
ROLL CALL: R. Reinhart, President; J.K. Muller, Vice-President;
J. Huss, Secretary; D. Hashin, Treasurer; A. Preece, Sergeant-at-Arms/
Director; B. Reed, Director (DC); R. Frahm, Director (DC); S. Ekstedt,
Director; G. Coerper, Director (DC).
OTHER MEMBERS PRESENT: A. Garrido.
GUESTS: M. Reid.
MINUTES: Minutes for Regular Meeting April 10, 2002 accepted on
motion by A. Preece and J.K. Muller, with all concurring.
TREASURER REPORT: Treasurer's report presented and explained by
D. Hashin. Report accepted on a motion by J.K. Muller and A. Preece,
with all concurring.
D. Hashin said that the POA's taxes were filed on time and that no
extension would need to be filed. Also mentioned that a new LTD
insurance provider has been obtained for non-sworn members and has
received the necessary paperwork.
OLD BUSINESS
AB 2592: R. Reinhart said that members of POA and Irvine PA, had
strongly encouraged Assemblyman Ken Maddox at a recent Orange County
PORAC Chapter Meeting to introduce a bill that would authorize law
enforcement to cite spectators at drag races. This was done in AB 2592,
and this assembly bill was recently sent to the Senate where it will be
heard in policy committee.
LEAD TICKETS: Law Enforcement Appreciation Day baseball game
tickets are available to POA members on a first come basis. Sign up
sheet will be posted on the POA bulletin board.
NEW BUSINESS
FLORAL ACCOUNT: D. Hashin mentioned that the POA had opened a
store account with Conroy's Flowers for the POA to help minimize costs.
The account has the executive board members listed as contact persons
with a control number, which is to be provided when orders are placed.
OILER FOOTBALL: J. Huss presented a request from Steve Fullmer,
Huntington Beach High School Oiler Football Booster Club, co-president
asked the POA to "Host a Home Game." The recommendation is to host the
season opener, which is on Thursday, September 12, 2002. (Los Amigos HS
v Huntington Beach HS) The "host" activities could pay tribute to the
1st Anniversary of 9/11 events in New York City. Cost to "host" or
sponsor the game is $1,000.00. Discussion was held and no action taken,
some Directors felt support of the "Grad Nite" programs would be more
beneficial.
TRAINING DAY: R. Reinhart said that the POA needs to provide a
"Training Day" for new officers and as a refresher to veteran officers
on what to do in critical incidents. He said that this is as important
as the retiree seminar offered last year. The Training Day" date to be
announced in the future.
SPECIAL ELECTION: R. Reinhart said that with G. Coerper's
retirement in June, his directorship position has a year remaining on
the term. Discussion held on if an appointment should be made to fill
the vacancy for the remaining year or a special election or to wait for
regular elections in August. It was decided that no special election
would be held, but to wait for the regular election.
COMMITTEES
BY-LAWS: R. Reinhart recommended that the By-laws Committee meet
soon to draft proposed amendments, which will be posted for review and
vote by the membership at the General Membership meeting in September.

CORRESPONDENCE
· WEAPON PURCHASE: (05-07-02) Request received from Art Droz to purchase
his weapon. Balanced owed to purchase his weapon was $351.00. The POA
has limited assistance to retirees on their weapons vesting at $200.00.
Discussion held. Motion by J.K. Muller and D. Hashin to approve the
$200.00, with all concurring. .

June 28, Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, Edison Field (Dodgers v
Angels)
ADJOURNMENT: This meeting was adjourned at 21:25 hours to
reconvene at 15:30 hours on Wednesday, June 12, 2002.
